Believe it or not work with benefits makes up over 40% of our work here at the CAB. The benefit system is a key support to people from all walks of life at all times of life. We can help you to understand what you might be entitled to, to claim for those benefits you are entitled to and to challenge decisions about your applications.
Helping you to know your entitlements.
As the benefit system has been designed to help so many people in different situations, it can appear a little daunting or difficult to understand how best to access help from it. If you are unsure about what you might be entitled to then contact the CAB and we will be happy to talk through your circumstances and may ask you to complete a benefit check form. The form allows us to collect enough information to access your likely entitlement to benefits, though it can appear like quiet a lot it is all essential to give us the most accurate picture.
Applying for benefits
We can help you to apply for benefits you are entitled to. Some applications can take a long period of time and so we like to organise specific appointments for them others will take less time and so we can deal with them more or less straight away. Always contact the Bureau for advice about how to get your help making and application.
Challenging or appealing decisions you don’t think are right.
If you have recently applied for benefits and have been refused, but don’t think the decision was correct or fair, then contact the CAB to see what we can do to help you in challenging that decision. Appealing decisions is time sensitive so always make sure you contact the Bureau as soon as possible.
