Advice on Everything
The scope of a bureau's work is really decided by the clients. This is because the CAB Service is committed to trying to give help to anyone who asks.
If you are thinking of contacting the CAB for advice please read through the following points as this will help us to help you when you do.
- Have you considered what the problem is? The clearer you can be about the situation the easier it will be for us to help and the more specific we can be about the information we can give you. Though it’s not always practical, writing down specific questions you want answered may help ensure you don’t forget to check something.
- Do you have paperwork in relation to the problem? Always try to bring along as much paperwork, i.e. letters, contracts, emails, as you can.
- For some enquiries we may need to take some personal information from you. Where possible it is always handy to make sure you know your full home address, a contact number if you have one and you’re National Insurance Number, particularly if your query relates to benefits.
- If you are going to be contacting us by phone make sure you have a pen and some paper to hand to jot things down and make notes for yourself.
- Don’t leave it till the last minute! If your problem has a time limit or is time sensitive contact the CAB for help as soon as you can, not all things can be sorted straight away and its better too soon than too late.
If you’re not sure about whether or not the CAB can help it doesn’t hurt to ask, it’s always better to ask than suffer in silence.
